Summer in the City

It has been a while since my last update here, not because I have been neglecting the website, but because I have been so busy enjoying the summer here in Chicago, that I have barely had a minute to sit down and type. Last weekend I attended the Lollapalooza music festival in our own Grant Park, and spent three straight days standing, sweating, drinking, and listening to some truly amazing music. I think it’s great that Lollapalooza has decided to make its home here; it allows me to do an entire summer of seeing bands play in the confines of three days. Also, for a kid with the ADD like me, the festival scene couldn’t work more perfectly. The longest a band plays is for an hour (I tend to get a little restless after anything more than that), there is always a nearby stimulus to pay attention to, and if you get bored with something, just walk around and you’re sure to find entertainment. The people watching is great. All in all, the whole thing was set up incredibly intelligently, and the festival functioned tremendously as a whole. Nothing can beat watching a Wilco or Flaming Lips show as the sun is setting over the skyline. Well that’s not exactly true; a lot of things could probably beat that, like say winning the lotto or something. But for the place and time, it truly was perfect. Summer in Chicago is simply unparalleled. We’ll talk more Saturday at 6am.
