I'm Alive. Don't Worry.

Well, I guess an update here is long overdue. Especially since I see Brendan has gotten out of his ‘corner’ and has commandeered my webpage with his own Rextournal emissions(see below). Just kidding, I told him to post on the front page. That’s just the kind of guy I am, even though technically, we aren’t even partners anymore! Well, life partners, but not the radio variety. We are definitely working on that though, and hopefully we’ll be back together on the air before you can say, “Matt and Brendan who?”

A lot has been going on since I last posted here, and I’m not even sure where to start. I suppose I’ll work chronologically, and bring you up to date gradually over then next few days here at MattDahl.com.

One of the major highlights of this ‘hiatus’ so far was the distinct privilege Brendan and I had of judging the 2008 Rush Adrenaline Dancers. This was our second year on the judging panel, and a tradition we are trying very hard to keep alive. I can’t even tell you how sweet it is to have 40 beautiful, half-naked, and highly flexible and rhythmic women working their hardest to impress you, where on any other day, you wouldn’t even get the time of day. But, I’ll take what I can get.

Some of the other judges included Erica, from the B96 morning show, some guy from nights there, a couple Rush players, and Mr. Brad Maynard, Punter for your Chicago Bears. When I arrived to Excalibur, which is where the tryouts were held, I was introduced to Brad and his former Indianapolis Colts Cheerleader wife. She didn’t say a word to me, but turned to the woman in charge of the tryouts and asked, (in my haughtiest party girl voice) “Does he even know ANYTHING about dancing?” To which I responded, “Tons, and I know even more about hot girls.” She just looked down at her Ugg Boots, and I went on my way. Turns out, I ended up ‘buddying’ up to Brad a little bit, which leads me to believe he might be on kind of a short leash. Before the tryouts started all the judges had to introduce themselves to the girls, and say what they do, etc… So after, “Hi! I’m Erica from the B96 morning show,” and the subsequent ovation from the ladies, it was my turn. I said, “Hello, I’m Matt Dahl, and I’m unemployed”. Uproar. Okay, so it wasn’t an uproar from the girls, but they definitely laughed pretty hard, at which point Brad turned to me and whispers, “Dude….you single?” And then he gave me a thumbs up. To me, that makes us friends.

After the tryouts were over, he again came up to Brendan and I and made a comment along the lines of how we may have cut some of the girls from the squad, but we wouldn’t kick any of them out of bed. And no, I did not say “Yeah, you’d punt them,” but I did say, “I hear you Bradley. It’s pretty funny when the beggars become the choosers,” in reference to Brendan and I. Brad laughed, and like a 10 year old on the playground, he actually DARED me to get the microphone and say that over the P.A. I of course did not, and he didn't double dog dare me, so it ended there. But, it’s easy to see; Brad, Brendan, and I go way back.

The squad is top notch, and I know Rush fans will not be disappointed in our selection. There’s truly something for everyone on the 2008 Rush Adrenaline Dance Team, unless you’re a woman. Well, that is unless you’re a lesbian, and then there is something for you too. So it’s something for everyone but straight women and gay guys.

Rex Dream

Watching Rex Grossman perform capably the last few weeks has me believing that the kid has some true talent. I can't help but wonder what could've been if things had transpired differently. Join me, if you will, on a journey into a fanciful future where dreams dare to live.

(AP) - GROSSMAN LEADS CLASS OF 2024 INTO PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME

Chicago Bears legend Rex Grossman was the biggest name inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame at Canton today. Grossman, known best for his rocket arm and his steady pocket presence, was a three-time NFL MVP. During his playing career, "Dead-Eye" Rex threw for over 40,000 yards. His pro career began on a shaky note, as he was injury-prone early on. But in 2006, Bears management, wanting to ease the growing pains of their franchise QB, went against their standard operating procedure and took a risk, signing troublesome receiver Terrell Owens. The move paid off, as Grossman and Owens quickly proved to be a match made in heaven. The duo led the Bears to a Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Never satisfied, Bears management refused to stand pat the following year. They went out and acquired wideout Randy Moss from the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a 4th-round draft pick. Moss and Owens went on to form the most dominant receiver duo in the history of the NFL, enabling Grossman to set all sorts of passing records. The Bears went on to win five out the next six Super Bowls, an era of dominance not expericenced in Chicago since the days of George "Papa Bear" Halas. "Grossman was simply the elite quarterback of our generation,' said career backup Tony Romo, who played for eight different NFL teams. "He was the standard by which we were all judged." Grossman was introduced by his son, Rex Jr.
