Just Checking In

President's Day

pres.jpg

Hey everyone. I just wanted to remind you that Brendan and I will be observing the most sacred holiday of President's Day, and we'll be taking the day off for silent reflection and remembrance. I guess President's Day is mainly about Washington and Lincoln, and I think when you're talking about two men who were so imperative in the formation of our great Union, I feel we should really split it up into two holidays. A Washington's Day, and a Lincoln's Day. Then we'd get two days off. But I'm unemployed, so I really shouldn't talk. There aren't even enough Presidents to justify how long I haven't been working!

Anyways, enjoy the holiday, and we'll talk to you live Tuesday at 12pm, or on the podcast.

Cyberspace and Sexy Lace

bustier.jpgIt's the start of another great week, and Brendan and I will be back on the air this afternoon at 12pm. I guess we're not really on the air, since our signal is not being broadcast via antenna, more like 'on the wires'. I might coin that term. If we could ever take calls in my bedroom studio, I might say, "You're in the wires with Matt and Brendan".

We've got a lot to talk about this afternoon, including a recap from the weekend's parties. I know Brendan spent Friday night at a lingerie shop, so his weekend probably peaked pretty early. I imagine if you were a lingerie buying lady who didn't know who Brendan was that night, your shopping experience might become somewhat uncomfortable. You just showed up to buy some sexy underwear for your man, maybe a little Valentine's Day surprise, and there's some creepy dude with an even creepier voice standing over in the bustier section, glaring at you. It might taint the shopping experience, but for Brendan, I'm sure it was paradise. I know I was definitely jealous.

I thought the Grammy's were pretty enjoyable last night, and they seemed to feature a heavy amount of live performances this particular year. I assume they probably did this on purpose to make the show more exciting, as I'm sure people generally get bored of the acceptance speeches. They only problem with this logic was that with so many live and energetic performances, the few acceptance speeches they did air seemed ten times as boring as usual. I'm just glad Queen Latifa wasn't the host. Amy Winehouse had to perform via satellite from London, and she had her own private host in Cuba Gooding Jr.. Who makes that executive decision? Out of all the people to fly out to London to introduce Amy, it's "Snow Dogs" very own, CGJr. Amy was great though, and delightfully creepy. Something about her cold, distant stare, and her seemingly involuntary twitches and body spasms, really turns me on!

Super Tuesday

oldlady.jpg

It's Super Tuesday, and we've got another Super Show to go along with your primary elections.

I haven't decided if I'm going to vote or not today, although I know I'd like to. Not because I'm particularly invested in one candidate, or I feel strongly on any particular issue, but mainly because I enjoy the kindly old ladies that sign me in at my local polling place. I vote at a really small church out by house, and I'm willing to bet that the ladies who administer the ballots there have been doing their job for almost 100 years. More than anyone else in town, they have their wrinkled, arthritic, and boney fingers on the pulse of our small little city. They know everyone who comes in to vote by name, and can recall the last time you decided to participate in this little thing we call 'Democracy'. I always feel as though I'm making them proud, as if I'm saving face for an entire generation of MTV watching, Xbox playing, lazy young Americans. I'm sure if things weren't so formal at the polling place, they'd want to squeeze my cheeks and give me a butterscotch candy to suck on, and I, in return, would want to run my fingers through their cotton-like tufts of hair. But when it comes to politics, we keep it just that, political. They know I love them.

Jamie Kennedy to Endorse Obama

Jamie Kennedy Just in time for Super Tuesday, Barack Obama has garnered the support of yet another Kennedy. Jamie Kennedy, star of "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment", "Malibu's Most Wanted" and, most recently, "Son of the Mask", joined the likes of Ted and Caroline Kennedy and Maria Shriver, calling the young lawmaker an inspriational uniter. "He is tough-minded but he also has an uncommon capacity to appeal to 'the better angels of our nature,'" Kennedy said, quoting from President Abraham Lincoln's first inaugural address in 1861. Echoing the words of Ted Kennedy, Jamie said he was searching for a candidate that "inspires me, inspires all of us." He was joined onstage by Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard, Kennedy's "Scream" co-stars. Kennedy invoked the memory of Skeet Ulrich's awe-inspiring performance in the first "Scream" movie when speaking of Obama. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, Obama's chief rival, brushed off the Kennedy endorsement while noting that former MTV VJ Kennedy has backed her to be the party's presidential nominee in the November election.

Superbowl Petty Cool

tompetty.jpg

It's the start of another week, and Brendan and I are back with a full slate of shows, free to you, the listener. Don't forget you can IM us during the show at "mattdahlshow", or as always, feel free to send us an email.

I still can't really believe how awesome that Superbowl was last night, and I know Brendan and I will have a lot to say about it this afternoon. Who knows, it might even work its way into the Entertainment News, as this was the first year of marriage between the NFL and Ryan Seaqueer. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about a red carpet at the Superbowl unless it's Lindsay Lohan's.

I thought Tom Petty was pretty awesome, even though just looking at him these days kind of creeps me out. He just has a weird, almost robotic nature about him that I find slightly unsettling. It kind of reminds me of a marionette puppet or something. It's a very distant, wooden kind of look. That being said, he can definitely still rock.

There's a lot more to talk about from the weekend, although Brendan and I never met up Friday night. He was at a birthday party my brother was throwing from his roommate, and his roommate was kicked out of his own party...so I look forward to hearing about that one.

The weekend is finally here

manningbrothers.jpg

The weekend is finally here, but we've got one more action packed show for you this afternoon. Brendan and I embarked on quite a journey together yesterday, full of male bonding, insecurity, and affordable fashion. We'll tell you all about it today.

As I'm sure you know, the Superbowl is this Sunday, so we'll be finalizing our plans and making our predictions for the big game. That should take a few seconds. Brendan still thinks Eli is the greatest Manning of all time, but I refute that, as we all know Cooper Manning is the greatest of the Manning brothers.

It's supposed to keep snowing until about 6pm tonight, although it seems to have already died down for the most part. I enjoy having the snow on the ground, as it makes it way easier to pick up my dog's shit. This way I can just kind of combine it all into one big snowball, and then pick that up with a plastic bag. It's a mental victory because you don't feel like you're just picking up hot, steamy...well, you get the point.

Speaking of hot, steamy, and powdery white stuff; Lindsay Lohan and the gang will all be subject to another edition of Entertainment News with our own Brendan Greeley. Hope you can join us!
