TGIF

files.jpeg

We will be live on the wires today, Friday, with a good old fashioned, both of us in studio, radio program. Brendo has the day off from his coverage of the R. Kelly trial, so we'll be able to bring you the full show, live at 12pm! Join us as we gear up for the weekend, kicked off by the inevitable start of the show Friday primal howl. It's a custom we are growing quite accustomed to. Feel free to yell something at home with us...then we're interactive! Wouldn't that be a beautiful thing?

We've got a lot of catching up to do, and a lot of Entertainment News to deliver, no doubt. Brendan's E-files must be swelling with hot new couples, pregnant boobs we are watching, and all sorts of awkward encounters. Be sure to join us live at 12, or as always, on the podcast. Spread the word!!

Cars and Cubs

sebring.jpeg
The show went off without a hitch today, thank goodness. Once again we caught up with Brendan stationed outside the Cook County Courthouse in his mom's Sebring convertible. From what it sounded like to me, the top was still up. Brendan is not a big top dropper really, at least that's what I've gathered from my time with him. His(well his mom's really) model Sebring is a bit older, and is the type where you have to unclip the hood and physically push it back yourself. This might just be the extra step that keeps Uncle Greasey from feeling that cool breeze tickle the follicles on his head. The one time I did convince him to take the hood down and utilize the convertible feature, all the garbage in the car started flying in our faces and out the back. I've never seen so many Wendy's napkins in flight. Needless to say, Brendan kept it closed for the ride home.

We're going to the Cubs game tonight, and I really hope I don't have to sit through an entire playing of that lame ass "Go Cubs Go" song. I'm not saying that as a White Sox fan trying to poke fun. Just in general, that song makes me cringe. There is just something about it's laid back, sing songy attitude that really pisses me off. If I were a Cubs fan, I would want to sing something way cooler after the game. On the south side, we usually go with AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck', an anthem that became engrained in the White Sox culture after 2005. Before that, it was typically Sweet Home Chicago, a song anyone can get behind. I'll even help someone write a cooler Cubs song, as long as no one ever has to hear that Steve Goodman crap again. I mean come on, he says the Cubs are only the best in the National League. Why lowball yourself like that in your own team anthem!?

As Usual, Technical Problems

standby.jpeg

Unfortunately my internet is out today, causing serious problems in my ability to do my internet based show. That being said, Brendan and I still did record a show today, and if we don't try to get it to you somehow, it's just a really weird phone conversation that two dudes recorded once for no real reason at all. I was able to get the show uploaded from my house, unfortunately, I don't have everything I need to properly update the podcast. You can listen to today's show by clicking on the "Listen Live" link on the right side of the page.

To download the show as an mp3, right-click on this link, and save the target file to your system. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

Memorial Day Weekend

Danica.jpg
Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone. I for one will be viewing the Indy 500 in its entirety today, not really because I’m an Indy racing fan, but more because I think Danica Patrick is incredibly hot. How could you not? Thinking about her winging around those turns at speeds over 200mph, the car shaking and vibrating her entire body, her sexy little hands gripping the wheel for dear life...It just really gets me ‘revved up’, to throw some auto terms at you. If you haven’t checked out her photo shoot for Sports Illustrated, it comes highly recommended from me.

For as long as I can remember, I have watched the Indy 500 every year. When I was a young lad, before my brothers and my schedules were filled up with various extracurriculars, we almost always spent the long weekend at the family place in Michigan. Sunday I would wake up to the smell of coffee and breakfast my mom was whipping up, and the sound of those Indy cars my dad was cranking from the TV. I always thought it was cool that my dad made a point of watching the race every year, and I knew very young that was a tradition I wanted to adopt. Any event that allows you lay motionless on the couch for several hours, drinking Coca-Cola and eating various Planter’s peanuts (dad always went honey roasted), is just fine by me. Even for a kid with ADD, there is just something about the race that can keep my attention for the entirety. I find the countdown from 500 calming, and love watching the laps peel off.

I’ve even attended racing school in Michigan at a place called MRS (Michigan Racing School) with my brothers. We spent an entire weekend decked out in fireproof suits and driving boots, behind the wheels of go-karts that could push 60...if you knew how to open them up on the back stretch like I did. Being brothers, we still argue about who officially won the final race of the weekend, and we probably always will. We would later join forces on ‘Team Steve Dahl’ for the Chicago White Sox Go-kart Grand Prix, only to be defeated by a bunch of guys who took it WAY too seriously. They brought their own non-required fireproof suits and driving booties, and spent a lot of time before the race tuning up their cars. We just thought it was a light-hearted charity race, and with that lack of mental preparedness, we were defeated. Although one Dahl brother did manage to take 2nd in his heat. I’ll give you one guess who it was. Booyah!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Show Update

secretary.jpg

Check out our podcast section, or refresh your iTunes subscription for a hot, steamy, and fresh new show. I was not able to sequester Brendan in the bedroom studio today, but maybe if I start using more sweet courtroom words like 'sequester', I'll have a better chance. I WAS however able to get him on the phone in the midst of his one hour lunch break.

We know the show is a bit sporadic these days, and we apologize, but can I just say, it's all Brendan's fault. I kid! If I could be in the courtroom for the R Kelly happenings, I would go in an instant...especially after hearing Brendan describe all of the beautiful courthouse honey dips walking around in their formal business attire. Something about a woman dressed for business really turns me on. I love a business skirt and a nice pair of tights, is that so wrong? For more, check out today's show, and we'll be back live on the wires tomorrow afternoon!

We Apologize...

clam-chowder-cl-1559155-l.jpgNo show today, folks. Unfortunately the timing is all off, not unlike the late bowl of soup I delivered to a customer's table last week, in which he was "very disappointed". Brendan is once again holed up in the courtroom, and is undoubtedly on his best behavior after his doughnut related issues yesterday. I must return to my waitressing job so that I can continue to try and put my kids through college.

We are sorry for this gap in your daily entertainment, but we hope you will understand. We will be live on the wires again tomorrow at 12pm, and on the podcast shortly after that.

bartending_flair_1.jpg
Just wanted to let you know that we managed to squeeze a show into the midst of an otherwise busy schedule today. That's just the love we have for you, the Matt Dahl Show listener. I'm about to head out the door to bartend a private 21st birthday party, which I was not at all excited about, until Brendan mentioned the opportunity to possibly serve some 21 year old ladies. You can hear all about it on today's show by launching the player here, or downloading the podcast.

As long as Brendan doesn't find himself restrained by judge Vincent Gaugn tomorrow(also check out today's show!), we will have another show for you tomorrow around 1pm. Sorry for the hectic nature of our scheduling right now, but we figure it's better than nothing!

Here's What's Up...

**UPDATE--WE'LL BE LIVE ON THE WIRES AT 1PM!

Hey everyone. There was no show yesterday, Monday, because I had a last minute meeting about potential future employment. Turns out that Chippendales doesn't exactly have the benefits and 401k options I'm looking for right now.

Today, Tuesday, I'm not exactly sure what's going on. I awoke to a text message from Brendan, and for once, it wasn't one of his late night booty calls. I believe he is still 'Trapped in the Courtroom', and said that he would still like to do a show today, only later in the afternoon. I replied, "What time? LOL OMG ;) ", and have yet to receive a response, which I'm pretty sure means Brendo is still in court.

We sincerely apologize for the inconsistencies with the show lately, but I guess this is the way it goes when you are doing a free one hour show out of your bedroom every day. Hopefully we will have a podcast to post for you later in the day.

Keep checking back with us here at MattDahl.com!

Happy Brendan

r-kelly.jpg
Hey folks. I just recently received a call from our own Brendan Greeley who informed me that he is, for lack of better words, 'trapped in the courtroom'. You see, Brendan spent the morning covering the happenings at the R. Kelly trial, which is kind of like a six year old kid covering Santa coming to town. It's going to be hard to tear him away. When we spoke on the phone, he said he was putting all his personal belongings into a closet, yes, trapping them in a closet, before heading into jury selection. I decided it was best to be flexible about all this, since it is probably the biggest day of Brendo's life so far. If you could only hear the giddiness in that subsonic voice of his, I know you would understand. It makes Brendan happy, and "happy people keeps the world turnin, turnin, turnin; and happy people keeps us dancin, dancin, dancin." I think we all know who wrote that choice poetry.

If we can do a show today, in other words, if Brendan can ever separate himself from his idol and mentor, R. Kelly, we definitely will. Check back with us later and take a look in the podcast's section. Sorry for any confusion!

Sorry, No Show Today

There was no show today due to illness. Matt thinks it might've been something in the "Dianetics Stew" at the Scientology party he attended for Suri Cruise's two years and two weeks birthday party. Hopefully, we will be back in action soon. Matt wants to get back on his feet quickly, because Rob Thomas is performing at the two years and three weeks Suri party. Updates will be forthcoming.

Fifth of May

pepper_thumb.jpg
Happy Cinco de Mayo! For all you non-spanish speakers, that translates "five of mayo", which is a way to ask for condiments in the native Mexican tongue, Spanish. I'm only kidding, we all of course know that Cinco de Mayo commemorates an initial victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862...and I definitely didn't wikipedia that.

This holiday has become engrained in the American way of life, I feel, for two reasons. First, we have a lot of Mexicans here in America. Second, we Americans will accept any holiday that allows us to get drunk on a specific day, no matter where it falls in the week. We don't really care about the significance or the history of the holiday, we just want to drink tequilla and maybe take a few swings at a multi-colored donkey piñata. I know Brendan and I will be out grinding, or "El Grindo" in celebration(maybe even with some Latinas!), and most likely cap things off with a taco. ¡Viva La México!

Risky Business

curtis_armstrong_11-17-06.jpg

Join Matt and I today for part two of our exclusive interview with Curtis "Booger" Armstrong from his compound in Telluride, Colorado as we celebrate 25 years since his supporting role in "Risky Business", where he played Tom Cruise's friend who first called the hooker service.
