Today is the 28th birthday of my big brother, Mike Dahl! This video illustrates everything that rocks about the guy. Mike’s doing the robot on a stripper pole, because that’s exactly what stripper poles were intended for. Dudes doing the robot. When he is shoved aside for a girl to get up there, you can really sense the disappointment of the crowd, but Mike and his perfect front-spike respectfully acquiesce.
Mike does the robot to the beat of a different drummer–both on the stripper pole, and in life. It’s something I’ve always admired about him. He reminds me to lose my insecurities, have some fun, and not take life too seriously.
Happy Birthday, Mikey! Thanks for always being a great brother and friend. I’m truly lucky to have you as a sibling. You have some sick moves.
After dealing with a host of technical difficulties, the latest episode of the show is finally available! You can listen below, or as always, subscribe to to the podcast in iTunes!
Thanks!

Three weeks after being blown across Alabama by a tornado, this little pooch returned home by crawling on two broken legs all the way to his owner’s doorstep. Dogs rule.
I’m pretty sure my dog, Walter, would give up the trek for the first human willing to give him a snack and a scratch behind the ears.
034 Pet Lions from Giant System on Vimeo.
This video was filmed by the guys at Giant System in our practice space one evening in April. If you aren’t familiar with Giant System, that’s essentially what they do: film bands practicing in their practice spaces. You can’t really tell from watching it, but there were about 8 dudes in a 14.5×14.5 room basking in the heat of electronics, amplifiers, and lighting equipment. Luckily, this video does not incorporate smell-o-vision.
Here’s my man Walter catching his breath after some intense frisbee action at the park yesterday. We wound up playing frisbee after some young kids who asked to throw the tennis ball to him decided to throw the ball over a fence, and then told me to go get it. They were supposed to be playing fetch with the dog, not me. I decided to switch gears and put a frisbee catching clinic instead. Walter’s pretty close to being one of those dogs who catches frisbees in a cape at the Bull’s halftime show. I, however, am far from being one of those guys who makes his dog catch frisbees in a cape at a halftime show.

“All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” -Abe Lincoln.
Several years ago my brothers and I made my mom a mirror with our hand prints on it, adorned with this quote from Abe Lincoln. Since then, it has always stuck with me as undeniable truth, which I guess makes sense, seeing as how it’s from ‘Honest Abe’. My mom has endured a lot of crap to help shape me into the man I am today, sacrificed a lot of personal aspirations and hobbies, and routinely put my brothers and I before all personal matters. She did so in the hopes that we would grow up to become men that would make her proud, and today, as I’m old enough to better appreciate the magnitude of the gifts she has given me, I’m proud to have the world’s best mother. I’ll never be able to adequately thank her for all that she has done, but I know I’ll spend a lifetime thinking I was truly blessed to have a mom like her, the greatest ever. And I hope she knows I feel that way. Happy Mother’s Day!
